People of action - A Touch of Magic

Over 140 volunteers - Individuals, people from Community groups and Rotary came together over the May Bank Holiday weekend to bring you the Abergavenny Steam Rally.  

When people gather with a shared purpose, something almost electric happens — a sense of momentum, of community, of we’re doing something that matters. This weekend carried that spirit in every conversation, every early start, every laugh shared over a job well done.

What our volunteers helped create wasn’t just a rally. It was a ripple effect of generosity that will be felt long after the engines quiet down. The funds raised go straight back into the heart of the community — supporting youth groups, strengthening local sports clubs, and lifting up countless small but vital causes that rely on moments like this to keep going. Their effort becomes the community’s opportunity.

And here’s the truth at the centre of it all: without a dedicated team, there is no rally. Without the rally, those community groups lose out. So every hour each volunteer gave — whether they were marshalling, organising, fixing, guiding, or simply showing up with a smile — became a direct investment in young people and neighbourhoods across the area.

They didn’t just help run an event. They’re helping communities thrive.
