Nineteen Scouts & Explorers from 1st Gilwern Scouts spent the first week of August at Poacher's International Jamboree. An event that happens every 4 years, held in Lincoln, bringing together over 5000 Scouts and Girl Guides from 20 countries across the world.
Back in May, 1st Gilwern Scout Group thanked Abergavenny Rotary for "their generous support and donation towards the cost of travel" to Poacher.
Poacher's week offered a variety of experiences such as visits to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre and Lincoln Castle & Cathedral. Activity choices included building & racing paper karts, zip lining and kayaking. Entertainment ranged from the Poacher Talent show to the 'Knights of Nottingham', with their impressive jousting and sword fighting skills. Experiences that expand horizons and develop confidence. Mix into this meeting people from around the world and making new friends and then you have an incredible experience. And what better way to end the week than live music and fireworks.
What an amazing week for 1st Gilwern Scouts and Explorers. Activities, friendships, new experiences and memories that last.
